From a Law of Attraction point of view, most people are doomed to fail with their New Years resolutions before they even start. Why? Because most people think that success is about setting goals and creating strategies. What they don't realize is that there is a subtle but vital mindset that is necessary from the get-go. Without this awareness their passionately motivated efforts will inevitably turn into fizzling curls of smoke.

"THE" Mindset

This key mindset is that of Oneness. Simply put: the mindset of oneness lies in the idea that you are already one with your desire. In other words, on an energy level, you already have what you want. This notion is certainly the road less traveled. Most people think that they are separate from what they want. That's why they set New Years resolutions in the first place. They want something. They see it as somewhere, out there, separate from them. They set a goal. And they start doing things to try and get the goal. However, unless you practice the mindset of oneness, you can do, do, do all you want, but your goals will remain out of reach.

This idea that we are separate from that which we desire represents the dream state in which most of us live. And as long as we believe that we are separate from our desires, our "wants" will serve only to fuel an insatiable longing. We want and want and want because we think that love, money, comfort, security, and success is outside of us. However, when we wake up to the idea that, on an energy level, we already have all that we want, our desires can then serve as catalysts for the realization of our visions.

Making the Shift

Now, of course moving into the mindset of oneness can be a big leap to make. It requires
a fundamental paradigm shift. According to many this is considered downright woo-woo, cosmic, weird, nonsense, what-are-you-talking-about-anyway!? stuff. Well, this mystical approach to New Years resolutions is not for everyone, but if any part of you perks up at the mere reading of this discussion, it means that a part of you gets it. A part of you understands there is truth in these ideas, even if you your mind is contorting as it tries to wrap itself around the concepts. And once you're open and curious, the path to true understanding continues with willingness.

Willingness Leads the Way

This New Year write your intentions, create your collages, make your treasure maps - sure! And of course take those inspired actions towards your goals. Nothing happens without action, after all. But this time, add one more ingredient to your recipe. Each time you find yourself wanting that thing on your list, thinking about what you're going to do to get it - stop - breathe, and practice a oneness mantra:

I am willing to open up and receive the abundance that is already present.

I am willing to perceive the well-being that is already expressing in my body.

I am willing to feel the romantic love and intimacy that is already present in my life, whether or not I can see it right now.

I am willing to feel the freedom that is mine right now in this relationship no matter what.

I am willing to experience the confidence that is already within me right here, right now.

I am willing to live the success that I already am, right now, under all conditions.

By even merely considering the possibility that you already have all that you want, you open the door to a whole new reality. You begin to leave behind the world of toil and effort and enter a world of ease and grace. Wouldn't that give new meaning to the phrase "Happy New Year!"?
